At the "heart" of the 19th Century pub is the recently refurbished main bar, built in a traditional style. The new furnishings, candle-lit tables and back-ground music create the perfect ambience for enjoying a drink or a meal while watching the Cricket opposite the pub on the oldest functioning cricket pitch in England . You can watch from the bar or sit outside at the front or in the beer garden. On Sunday lunchtimes you can enjoy LIVE Jazz music and on Monday evenings LIVE contemporary music, as well as live music on the 2nd Saturday and 4th Friday of each month. Plus from time to time we throw in the odd extra event, so keep an eye on our diary.
Adjacent to the main bar is TOAD'S HALL, an 18th Century building, which has recently been converted from a Restaurant into a second bar & dining area. This due for refurbishment in the Summer of 2010. Toads Hall leads on to the heated covered patio area.
Accompanied children of all ages are welcome in the bar and dining areas, during the day, afternoon and early evening. Late on, this is not the best place for children as it tends to get busy. Children are not allowed up to the bar counter at any time.
Our well kept Cask Marque Approved ales (Timothy Taylors Landlord, London Pride, Youngs Bitter & Courage Best) provide the ideal destination for any beer enthusiast. We have also recently installed Cask Ale on the back of the bar (winter only - due to bar temperatures in the Summer) with its own chilling system that allows you fresh beer straight from the cask at just the right temperature. The Frog & Wicket also provides ice cool lagers, ciders, a wide range of wines & spirits and a selection of healthy fruit juices and soft drinks.
We also have a selection of teas and coffees made to order.
